01Is GrowDraft free?
Yes, the whole planner is free today, during early access. Yard scans, sketch reading and photo renders share a daily allowance because each one costs money to run: 6 a day, 30 with a free account. Premium, paid features are planned but not built or priced yet: nothing is listed until it exists.
02Do I need an account?
No, not to start: open the planner and design; your garden autosaves in your browser with no sign-up. A free account is what you need for cloud saving across devices, read-only share links, and will be what any future premium features sit behind.
03What happens to the photo of my yard?
Only when you choose Scan, after a notice, the photo is sent through our server to Google’s Gemini service to be read. New scans are not added to our stored review library. We keep request timing and usage counts, never your image. You can ask us to delete an account or any retained data at [email protected]. The privacy policy has the details.
04What does the yard scan actually give me?
A working 3D layout, not a picture. Every object it places is a real item you can drag, resize, delete or walk around, exactly as if you had placed it yourself.
05What if it gets my yard wrong?
It shows you what it saw before it places anything, and you can dismiss any of it. After that, everything is editable. Most photos need a minute or two of tidying.
06Do I need to measure my garden first?
No. The scan estimates your yard size, a traced satellite outline is measured for you, and you can drag the boundary to match reality afterwards. You can work in metric or imperial.
07Is this a 3D scan of my garden?
No, and that is deliberate. A photogrammetry scan gives you a frozen mesh you cannot edit. GrowDraft gives you a model made of real objects, which is the thing you actually want when you are deciding where the beds go.
08Can I see how the garden changes over time?
Yes, with separate controls today: time of day, month, a growth year for shrubs, and an age from 1 to 40 years for each tree. A single play button that runs them together is coming soon.
09Can I plan indoors, on a balcony or on a rooftop?
Yes. Add a greenhouse, room or grow tent, step inside it, and lay out racks, hydroponic systems, towers, lights and climate equipment the same way; see the hydroponic growers page for the detail. Balconies, patios, decks and rooftops are their own small-space setting, each with a real building wall, a railing and a backdrop.
10Does it work on a phone?
Yes. GrowDraft is built mobile first, with full editing on a phone, and it also runs on tablet and desktop.
11Will it tell me when to sow and water?
Yes, as a suggestion. For the crops in your garden, GrowDraft suggests when to start seeds indoors, sow outside or move plants out, from average frost dates for your garden's location. It shows where those dates come from, and says so when it does not know. It does not remind you to water or feed: it is a planning tool, not a garden diary.
12Can I print my plan?
Yes. Export a plan sheet: a scaled drawing with dimensions, a legend and a plant schedule, as a PDF, SVG or PNG. It is made on your device, free, with no watermark.
